Features

Everything for group texting, done right

Organize contacts into groups and lists, reuse the messages you send most, and reach everyone in a tap. Simple, fast, and private.

Unlimited groups

Create as many groups as you like and add members from your address book: family, work, team, class.

Distribution lists

Manage large lists kept separate from your address book, and import them easily from a CSV file.

Reusable templates

Save the messages you send often with a name and recall them in a tap whenever you need them.

Groups and lists together

Select multiple groups and lists in a single send — the app totals the contacts for you.

Batch sending

Messages go out in small batches of contacts, reducing the risk of carrier blocks or limits.

Privacy first

Groups, lists, and contacts stay on your device. No cloud, no data collection, no trackers.

How it works

From groups to send in three steps

Organize your contacts, write your message (or recall a template), and send to all the groups and lists you want.

1

Create groups & lists

Add contacts from your address book to your groups, or import a distribution list from CSV.

2

Write or recall a template

Type the message on the spot or reuse one of your saved templates. See recipients and characters in real time.

3

Send to groups and lists

Pick multiple groups and lists at once: Group SMS sends the same message to everyone, in small batches.

Pro · Campaigns

Run a full SMS campaign, spread over days

Blasting hundreds of people at once can get you throttled or blocked. Campaigns let you plan one message for a large audience and send it in guided daily batches — the app tells you exactly when and how many to send each day.

  • Guided daily batchesSet a duration and a daily cap: the app splits your recipients evenly across the days.
  • One tap a dayA daily reminder opens today's queue with the message ready — just review and send.
  • Live progressTrack sent vs remaining and day X of Y — anyone left out is rolled over to the next days.
  • Full controlPause, resume, extend, or stop a campaign anytime. Attach an image or PDF to every message.
Pro · Scheduled

Schedule messages to send later — even on repeat

Line up a message for the perfect moment and let Group SMS remind you when it's time. Set it once, or have it recur daily, weekly, or monthly — at the scheduled time the app opens the message ready to send.

  • Pick a date & timeChoose exactly when a message should go out, down to the minute.
  • Daily, weekly, or monthlyTurn any message into a recurring reminder, with specific weekdays for weekly sends.
  • Timely remindersA notification pops up at the scheduled time and opens the message, ready to send.
  • Upcoming & sent historyKeep an eye on what's coming up and review everything you've already sent.

iMessage, green bubbles and the group thread trap

Texting a list from an iPhone has quirks that have nothing to do with any app. Here is what Group SMS 3 handles for you.

Everyone ends up in one thread — unless you stop it

Message several people from Messages and iOS puts them in a shared group conversation: all 60 recipients see each other's numbers, and every reply goes to everyone. Avoiding it means digging into Settings ▸ Apps ▸ Messages ▸ Group Messaging and remembering to switch it back. Group SMS composes one message per contact instead, so the setting never matters. Why this matters →

Contact groups you cannot actually text

iOS lets you build contact groups in Contacts and on iCloud.com — and then the Messages app cannot address one. Group SMS reads those groups directly, so the ones you already maintain finally become usable.

Blue and green in the same send

A real customer list is part iPhone, part Android, so some messages travel as iMessage over data and some as SMS on your plan. You cannot control which — but you can keep the message identical for both. SMS, MMS and RCS explained →

Apple decides who presses send

No iPhone app can send a text on your behalf: the system composer opens and you confirm. Everything before that tap — the list, the template, the name substitution, the batching — is what the app removes. The full explanation →

A widget, delivery tracking and iCloud

Your stats on the Home screen, one-tap resend for the messages that failed, and your groups and lists synced across your Macs and iPads through your private iCloud.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Group SMS send messages over the internet?
No. Group SMS uses the native Messages app and your SMS plan: messages go out from your own number as regular SMS, with no intermediate servers and no account.
Are my contacts uploaded online?
Never. All your groups, lists, and contacts stay stored locally on your iPhone. We use no cloud, collect no data, and have no access to your information.
Can I send to multiple groups and lists at once?
Yes. You can select several groups and several distribution lists in a single send: the app totals the contacts and sends the same message to everyone.
How does it avoid carrier blocks?
Group SMS sends messages in small batches of contacts, reducing the risk of blocks or limits that carriers apply to bulk sends.
Can I import a contact list from a file?
Yes. Distribution lists let you import lists of contacts from a CSV file and manage them separately from your address book.
What are Campaigns?
Campaigns is a Pro feature for sending one message to a large audience over several days. You set a duration and a daily limit, and Group SMS guides you through sending in batches with a daily reminder — ideal for promotions and announcements where sending everything at once could trigger carrier limits.
Can I schedule a message for later?
Yes. Scheduled is a Pro feature that lets you set a message for a future date and time, one-off or recurring (daily, weekly on chosen days, or monthly). Since iOS doesn't allow background sending, the app sends you a reminder at the scheduled time and opens the message ready to send in a tap.
Is Group SMS free?
Yes, Group SMS 3 is free to download on the App Store. Campaigns and Scheduled are optional Pro features.
